Welcome aboard to VSNG, Fred.
My L'Aurore works fine in NG. Make sure that in Graphics tab you have selected "Show panel outside". Since Axe made some components as instruments, their placement is controlled by panel. Hope that helps.

Thanks for your perspective, Rakom.
I sent Ilan another request for restoration of cargo loading a week ago, but no reply. I wasn't aware of the shader/shadow issues. Maybe if enough of us ask for loading...

Re: New up-coming Add-On
Wonderful additions, Rakom! :) Can't wait to try them out. Have you asked Ilan about restoring cargo loading function to VSNG? I've requested that twice over the past year, each time Ilan responded saying many others had also requested loading ala VSF, so he would restore it. But so far...??? While ...

Re: Soft Shadows - Computationally expensive?
Ahoy, Fran.
I agree wholeheartedly that those shadows are an essential part of 'immersion'. It's a major part of what makes VS_NG (and VSF) the go-to choice for many of us old seadogs.

Re: Soft Shadows - Computationally expensive?
Thanks, DistortAMG. But in the example you show, the option ticked is "Show shadows", not "Soft shadows" as discussed. I always have "Show shadows" selected as well as highest quality graphics and dynamic shadows in both VSNG and VSF. Are you seeing a specific option fo...

Re: Soft Shadows - Computationally expensive?
I'm not seeing a "soft shadow" option in VS NG, nor in VSF. I've checked ingame settings, logfile, and Nvidea options. While I noted the discussion about FPS impact, I wanted to try it...as I frequently observe FPS over 100 ingame using highest quality settings. Where is that option found?

Re: How to make ships turning faster and increase max. speed?
Parameters dx,dy,dz allow you to move center of gravity along those axes. I wasn't running NG when I said 'reset' inertia. It's 'adjust' inertia. When you move CoG, you should either click adjust inertia, or adjust it manually using the xx, yy, and zz parameters.

Re: How to make ships turning faster and increase max. speed?
When you're in the boat.cfg parameter to adjust xyz coordinates, you can scroll down and manually adjust inertia along those axes, or scroll further down and click 'reset inertia'.

Re: How to make ships turning faster and increase max. speed?
You can experiment with moving the center of gravity up the y-axis a little bit at a time, and adjusting inertia. But beware...too high, and you will capsize.

Fantastic, Rakom. In these days of 'bigger is better', it's these little old, tired, 'rode hard and put away wet' workhorses that do most of the work and get none of the recognition. Can't wait to see this one launched!

Hi Dave Welcome back to the fold. Alas, I know not what happened to Steve Sharp..."Sharpy". We frequently exchanged emails for years; he even called me once from HI to chat. He was working on a beautiful model of a Vagabond 47 ketch upon which he planned to live aboard in retirement...it w...

Re: Virtual Sailor 9.6 is out
Nice update, Ilan. :) Since it wasn't mentioned in the summary, I'd like to invite everyone's attention to the fact that the adjustment to mooring and anchor lines also applies to towlines. As one who has done some significant RW ocean towing (including a 400' freighter with rudder jammed hard aport...

Re: Hatteras Yachts in simulator?
Welcome aboard, GTHull94. I don't know of any Hatteras yachts currently available, but Cigdriver's website http://www.animatedexistence.com/vs/ has a couple of very similar yachts...his Dad's Carver 3807 sundeck, and the Ocean 50 SS sportfisherman. As a lifelong boataholic, I think you'll find them ...

Re: Simulating a list
Yes, you can use cargo to affect trim and list. You can create cargo points that are asymetrical. And you can define specific designated cargo weight in common "manifest" file. Another quick-and-dirty trick to induce trim/list is to define "crew mass" in properties as some approp...

Let me add my "Welcome Back", Spindrift...as a VS'er from 6.5 onwards, and VSF'er from day one. I agree wholeheartedly with Victor's assessment of VSNG...just when you think it can't get any better, Ilan pops another update adding to the immersiveness and realism of this sim...and further ...

My bad.
I looked in my VSNG folder and looked at the 'vehicle tab' in "Help"...but of course it shows the VSF vehicle tab, not the VSNG graphics tab. Seems to me this should invite an email to Ilan.

Good question, Hans. Wish I could give a good answer. FWIW, my PM folder shows 3 inbox messages, 3 sent messages (with DTG), and 0 outbox messages. So I suspect your message was not sent, or it would show up in sent file with date/time group.

As an 'old salt' going all the way back to VS 6, and in VSF from day one when we ship sailors hijacked VSF (which Ilan hoped would be a successor to Microflight!)...I'd say go with VSNG. It uses superior inertial dynamics, vastly improved wave generation, better FPS performance, and easily imports V...

I've had the same problem in Firefox, but if you click on "See details" you can opt to 'continue anyway...I trust this website'. It also occurs after download, when I run exe file to install update...but "See details" allows overriding Windows Defender.

If you haven't already done so, I hope you bring this to Ilan's attention. Your modeling and researching this problem should be of great benefit to the program.

Rakom, your model of Princesse is exquisite in VSF! Have you had any progress in making it function in VSNG? It appears to use the same format and coding as SAGAR...which works fine in NG. Have you interacted with Ilan to figure out what's preventing it from loading? A lot of us are anxious to see P...
