Non vertical masts

Postby kostas11 » Sun Jan 29, 2012 11:50 pm

In my boat the masts are non vertical. I see in the manual "boat data structure" that is possible to change the direction vector of sailb. So I change the sailb_dy, dz and uy, uz, but nothing happen, the sailb remain vertical.Any idea?

Most of my ships have non vertical masts, its the same setup for the jibs as it is for the mains, just use the jibs settings in the cfg and adjust each one until you find the one that changes the angle in the direction you need.

i use for sailb the same setup like the jips. I add, dy, dz, uy, uz in the cfg files but the direction of sailb not change, remain always vertical. So, in the game the rotation axis of sailb, when the direction of the windchange, is the vertical axis z and not the axis of the masts prescribe from dy and dz . The same problem happen to the boat "Baltimore clipper" created by Mike Sumner for Virtual Sailor. I think that the direction vector dx, dy, dz works only for the jibs, not for the sailb.

Hi, I must have missed this one. It is possible on sail_b as configured for the Wharram Tiki like this:

0.0 sailb_x
11.188 sailb_y
6.5 sailb_z
0.0 sailb_dx
0.11 sailb_dy
1.0 sailb_dz
0.0 sailb_ux
0.11 sailb_uy
-1.0 sailb_uz
Cheers,

Ron

Hi Ron

I had download Wharram Tiki, but, i lost it when my computer crash. I try to download it now from the millennium webpage but when i choose it the page change in a "dsnextgen.com" and nothing happen, but from the picture i see that the masts are verical and not inclinate.
As i said in the previous post i use for sailb the same setup like the jibs and i adding dx, dy, dz but the rotation axis of sailb when change the wind direcion is the vertical axis and not the axis prescribe form dy, dz.
Later i send you a picture of what i mean

Hi Ron,

Look at the attachment for what i mean
In the boat.cfg file the sailb is like this:
0.00 sailb_x
8.00 sailb_y
32.00 sailb_z
0.00 sailb_dx
0.974 sailb_dy
0.225 sailb_dz
0.00 sailb_ux
0.225 sailb_uy
-0.974 sailb_uz

i change many times the value of dy, dz, even the most extreme (1 and 0) but the sailb not change the inclination

Hi there. Did you ever obtain a copy of the Tiki 38 again? One of my favourite boats and I lost my copy too.
Alan Winter is a legend! Cheers.
