Dear Community,

I have come to the conclusion... no, I won't cancel this WIP, don't you worry tanker fans :) But I have come to the conclusion that I will have to focus this WIP on Virtual Sailor, as Blender doesn't seem to "like" the non-simple-mesh thing (having all objects in one file, boat.x).

EDIT: The fix for exporting everything as one DirectX model would be to rotate every object to it's correct axis, accordingly, which of course still works...

EDIT2: I will actually focus on Vehicle Simulator for this WIP... Virtual Sailor fans will have to wait 'til I port it over.
Kind Regards,

saken

Update as of Mars 27, 2017!

Postby saken » Mon Mar 27, 2017 9:18 am

Dear community,

Here she's lying in my virtual dry-dock, with even more fine-tweaks on the bulbous bow. As of now, she's at 109,901 faces, and 219,600 triangles. Now you know.

... and in water, with a draft of 10.5 meters.

Now though, back to Vehicle Simulator for more testing, and of course, more modeling in Blender 8-)

Update April 18, 2017!

Postby saken » Tue Apr 18, 2017 5:49 am

After a quite long moment of silence, I'm back with another update! This time to the bow. I removed the seam that were going along the bow, that separated the hull from the railing. 8-)

Update 2 of April 18, 2017.

Postby saken » Tue Apr 18, 2017 9:03 pm

Been tweaking the bow rail even further, adding the holes for the ropes from the bollards (the bollards themselves are yet to be modeled).

... and so, an overview of the behemoth. 8-)

Update April 28-29, 2017!

Postby saken » Sat Apr 29, 2017 12:17 pm

I intended to post this yesterday, but it turned out to be today. But this is how it looks so far. Tweaking here and there. Another change I did was using planes to display the reference images, instead of empties (dummy) objects, thus making them visible in renders, to show the accuracy so far.

Oh, no problem XD I follow this book, which is actually a scale model (1:400) of the "Jahre Viking", which is the name she had before Knock Nevis, between 1991-2004. Knock Nevis was from 2004-2009 :)

Update as of June 1, 2017!

Postby saken » Thu Jun 01, 2017 10:41 pm

I found out how! After 12+ hours (must've been at LEAST 12 hours XD) sitting behind the computer screen, thinking and pondering, I finally figured out that I could use the back rail at the bridge wing to scale along that face's normal Z axis, and thus making the back of the superstructure more organic, along with the AWESOME proportional editing tool in Blender, this is the result 8-)
