And so... I thought it was time for a multiplayer thread now that Virtual Sailor has returned to active development.

I will be sailing online from now 09:15 CET (Central European Time) with my tanker (The ULCC Jahre Viking), in the Cape Verde scenery.

How do I join an existing MP session? When I see a list of MP sessions in the 'Start a netplay session' window and I press the 'Join an existing session' button, the sessions list becomes empty and I can't join any session. What goes wrong here and do I need certain sceneries and ships to join an MP session?

Hi MokMok,

Yes, you need the same scenery and ship(s) as the host. Otherwise e.g. if you don't have the same ship(s), you'll just probably see the Ranger instead, or any other default boat/ship. As for why you cannot join a session, I had to open port 2502 to be able to host. Not entirely sure about joining a session, though... I mostly host.
