Virtual Sailor 9.0 is out

Post by admin »

Hi Everyone,

Today I have released version 9.0 of Virtual Sailor NG, in this version some very nice new features, here is the description of them:

1) Fixed loading encoded objects in common folder.
2) Fixed floaters with encoded mesh do not load.

The objects loaded in common folder are sometimes encoded as Xx objects, in such cases some buoys failed to load,
this update fixes this bug and loads also encoded objects from the common directory.

3) Added loop waypoints.

The option to loop waypoints that is to navigate to the first waypoint when the last waypoint was reached was added,
to activate it use the Options->Graphics screen on Vehicle options part.

4) Increased size of label of ship name.

Some long ship names failed to be drawn properly on the upper right corner of the screen, this label has been resized.

5) Added tips for all options dialogs.

All options for water, land and graphics can be seen now with tool tips which give a few words of information about them.

6) Added "dgcamera" camera instrument.

The dgcamera instrument works again for all ships that had them in panel configuration.

7) Added azipod control to joystick axes.

Left and Right azipod axes were added to joystick axes, so they can be controlled using the joystick directly.

8) Render objects double sided and above water in cockpit.

This is a great new feature, turn it on by using "Render Double Sided" in Options->Graphics->Vehicle, it will render the inside of ships
and also render below waterline without turning the lighting to underwater lighting, this allows for dramatic views inside engine rooms and
inside submarines.
It renders a bit more slowly than the normal rendering so it is off by default.

9) Added motion dampening to vehicle dynamics and options.

Some user complained than ships roll too much in small waves, to fix this issue the dampening of rolling motions can be adjusted globally,
using the slider in Options->Graphics->Vehicle.

10) Added light type Source to boat lights.cfg, activated by anchor lights.

In lights.cfg the type "Source" can be defined, this will create a light source in this position, the name can be combined also with color
for example YellowSource, to turn these on and off use the "Anchor Lights" button in the lighting panel.
now you can walk through a ship without the bridge light being lit, and still get rooms that are lit.
do not use too many of these and the video adapter is limited to 8 in total including sun, moon etc.. so make only a couple in each ship.

11) Added JTS boat to show sample of source lights in lights.cfg.

The Jts boat was added to show this behavior of light sources on a ship.

Hope you all like this update, thanks to Makis Stefanatos for suggesting the light source idea !
