Re: VS NG performance failures
After installing Vulkan you then need to download DXVK from here:https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases You need to download : dxvk-2.3.tar.gz Extract the files then move the ones from the x64 folder (as VSNG is a 64bit program) to the main Virtual Sailor NG folder replacing the existing ones. T...

Re: VS NG performance failures
Yeah that's fair enough, It's worth noting I DIDN'T install Vulkan into the VSNG folder, I just places it somewhere else on my system, so it doesn't need to be in the same location.

Re: VS NG performance failures
I followed the video link you posted? The same one that fixes GTA IV. Download Vulkan SDK and install, then download and add ALL the files in the x64 folder from DXVK 2.3 to the Virtual Sailor NG - that's all that's needed :) As long as your GPU supports Vulkan it should work for you. FPS will drop ...

Re: VS NG performance failures
Can 100% confirm the Vulkan/DXVK works - I use to get around 20fps with Icon of the Seas in port, it's now over 100fps and this is a 3 million polygon model! https://i.ibb.co/MsQQkJz/Screenshot-10962.png (full size) - https://ibb.co/Nsbb2G0 This alone can help make VSNG the perfect Ship Sim as it re...

Re: VS NG performance failures
Does this mean that DirectX9 games doesn't run at all at AMD CPUs and AMD GPUs which have been produced since 2020? And are VSNG and other DirectX9 games also affected by any AMD Phenom II X3 which is from 2009? No the games still work but aren't recommend which is why many AMD users have issues ru...

Re: VS NG performance failures
I was reading online that AMD dropped all support for DirectX9 in 2020. There are also a few posts on various of websites surrounding AMD in general with DirectX both CPU and GPU and they don't always mix well with them. I think this was one of the reasons why I chose not to get an AMD CPU (despite ...

Re: VS NG performance failures
Hmmm it's definitely odd. The only thing I could suggest is seeing if a friend has a Intel CPU based PC with a similar setup to yours to see how it runs. When I say "see how it runs" I mean you actually test the game yourself on their PC. I know VSF runs well on your PC but it's a 14 year ...

Re: VS NG performance failures
It could be the model itself that isn't optimized for VSNG? I only have the OG Titanic that was released for VS7 years ago (with no interior working) so can't really compare it this end. On Average the FPS for me is around 10fps less when comparing the same situation in VSF, but I think this could b...

Hi Whippy, To ensure all my maps load correctly make sure you have downloaded all of the required files, I would also recommend installing the 4GB patch by N-Core as this will help you load much larger (detailed) maps. In the options make sure Scenery Scan is selected so this will load the maps as y...

Re: VS NG performance failures
Which type of CPU are you running? Some users are reporting AMD CPU's don't mix well with the sim while Intel CPU's work fine. I can kinda back this up as back in 2015 I had a AMD powered custom PC and the fps weren't great to say the least. Then when I switched to Intel in 2016 the fps nearly doubl...

Re: Lighting question
Source Lighting is the best option for adding new lights to ships what you want to help illuminate areas. To me this is one of the best features in VSNG. In the lights.cfg the light needs to for example YellowSource or WhiteSource Below are two examples with the lights enabled on one side and off th...

Re: New Addon available: MEGA EXPRESS FOUR
Wonderful ship again Rakom! I won't worry too much about the FPS, in all honest I say she runs just as well as all the other ships (on my PC at least), the fps only seem to drop when there are other high poly ships in view. I've been sailing around the Med quite a lot recently so it's nice to have t...

Re: Virtual memory error
The best way to fix this is to download the 4GB patch by Ntcore and apply it to VSNG. https://ntcore.com/?page_id=371 It's a very simply tool that can be applied to any game, this is ideal for games built using older engines (like VSF/VSNG) and should stop the game from both crashing (in most cases)...

Re: Long Distance - Reatime voyages?
I love doing these type of voyages. From time to time I do real world cruises in VSNG, usually with P&O Cruises UK as I travel with them on my real cruises. They are also my choice as about 98% of their regular ports of call and the entire fleet can be used in both VSF and VSNG. I only usually d...

It made it such as ease of use when added to that panel to control multiple animations which most newer ships ...

Light Source disappearing bug doesn't seemed to be fixed, if anything it seems that is now a bug. Source lights on ships only seem visible is you are either: Selected the ship or if you are VERY close to it in free Camera. Increasing the values in the cfg's for the lights does work but overall it ma...

Re: How to modify Smokes.cfg to have thin/light smoke?
The Scale (smoke_s) can change it's overall size adding a - (minus) in front can make it more thin but doing this the smoke will always be visible (even when the engine is idel). The only way to get it to travel further though would be by increasing both the wind speed and overall speed of the ship....

Re: Help with animations
Deep Exploration is a complicated program to use if it's a new program for you. I've had the program since 2009 and I still learn new things about it nearly every week. it's ideal for editing small parts of the models, creating mesh lights, animations and editing minor textures. I do have a link for...

If it's building a port using an existing map with existing objects I do have a fairly simply video on how to create a port. https://youtu.be/gQdBB3t9Wl8 If you want to be able to add custom objects then your'll need to understand how to use Sketchup or another building software to create the object...

Re: Modeling Real-World Ferry Services and Beyond
Hi there! I like the idea of this Virtual Ferry Service. Many years ago when I VSF (Vehicle Simulator) wasn't that old I started Condor Ferries Virtual which followed the real world Condor Ferries on their routes from the UK to the Channel Islands and France. This particular ferry company would be a...

Hello, In reference to the horns.... users do have the option to change the default sounds themselves, this is something I have done for the engine sounds and horns. I'm not entirely sure how detailed you want the bridges but I have several ships on my website which do have working bridges (working instruments) and are to some detail. Quite a few of my ships have been updated to make the most of Virtual Sailor NG as they now have up to 6 animations. I also like ...
