Re: Soft Shadows - Computationally expensive?
Sorry, it is 'show' shadow option. Not soft shadows. Either way, the problem is still the same, very very computationally expensive. I guess one of the issues is nothing can be pre baked or pre computed due to users being able to add their own models into the sim - that said, it would be lovely to h...

Re: Soft Shadows - Computationally expensive?
You can find the setting in game. From the top bar in VSF, go to options, then click on 'Graphics'. This will bring up the graphics window. From the 3 tabs at the very bottom of the window select the one called 'Graphics'. Then under performance on the top left of the screen, find the tick option fo...

Re: Very low fps
What do you class as 'very low' FPS, the information you have given is too sparse to work with. But we will try :D What resolution do you have the sim rendering in? What are the overall graphical settings in the game? Soft shadows is something that should probably be turned off if it is on, it absol...

How does [has_vector] work?
Good evening, I am trying to set up my boat to have thrust vectoring, basically any ship or boat with waterjets has thrust vectoring, as the thrust coming out of the water jet can be angled (vectored) to give much more maneuverability, especially at low speeds. I remember with VSF, you could set up ...

Soft Shadows - Computationally expensive?
Good afternoon, Just looking at the soft shadow option in VS NG, when activated it drops my sim FPS by about 75%. I seem to recall it did this in VSF also. I have tested this on my old rig that sports a Nvidia GTX 1660 Super 6GB graphics card and on my new system using an Nvidia RTX 3070 8GB graphic...

Re: Some advice before purchase.
Thank you both for the reply's. I have gone ahead and made the purchase for VSNG. I looked more detail into the new features and took what you guys said and I think undoubtedly this is the software for me, undoubtedly the most comprehensive simulator for boats both large and small. After having a lo...

Some advice before purchase.
Hello! I was looking for some advice before I go ahead and make the purchase of either VSF or VSNG. I shall start out by saying I have used VS since VS4 back in about 2002..worked all the way up to VS7 then on to VSF. I have been out the loop for a few years though so before I go and download my clo...
