Very Sad News (Ilan Papini 1963-2024)

Post by matto_mati »

Hi all,
Years ago I stopped using VSF but it never really left me.
Today, and there is no easy way to say this, I saw an obituary with a familiar name.
Illan Papini, died today Sunday February 11th.
He crashed his plane on Friday due to probably a bird strike, investigation is pending. He was brought to hospital where he died.
Rest In Please Illan.

Correction:
Illan died in hospital on Friday. Hours after the crash.
I will update further when the accident report is published.

Thanks matto_mati,

I had just received this terrible news from another friend via email, and came to see if the community was informed yet.

Rest in Peace Ilan.
My condolences, and prayers to your family. I am very sorry to hear of your loss.

Regards.

Very sad news to hear that Ilan Papini has died, rest in peace, Ilan! I hope that VSNG will still be further developed with new updates of this game and that new customers can still buy and activate this beautiful game.

My condolences,

Heartbreaking. Rest in peace, my friend and thank you for everything.

I have known Ilan since 2005 when I still lived in my native country. I could not even afford Virtual Sailor back then - Ilan kindheartedly offered it to me, and he even sent me a T-shirt from Israel.

May his soul roam freely.

Now that the developer of Virtual Sailor NG Ilan Papini has died, can Virtual Sailor NG/Vehicle Simulator still be purchased via Hangsim.com and be activated after installing it on your PC? Or is it very sensible to buy these two programs only from Steam from now on? Since Ilan Papini has died, the website hangsim.com isn't updated anymore and I don't know if activation of Virtual Sailor NG/Vehicle Simulator will still function.
