Today I have uploaded version 8.7 of Virtual Sailor NG.
I would like to give special thanks to Μάκης Στεφανάτος (Makis Stefanatos) for the good ideas,
the bigger and more accurate displacement waves and the additional anchors.
This update brings a really cool new feature, the 3D displacement waves for all ships and boats, in the previous versions
I have tried to simulate this displacement waves, but it was too CPU intensive and did not contain a large enough area.
This version I have started to use a pre-calculated displacement maps, and adapting them dynamically to correct ship size,
speed and wavelength created by it, also it has the two Froude number domains which are typical to displacement and to planning
hulls, so the results are really stunning and also reduce the CPU load !
Also, I have increased the size of sea mesh rendered with displacement and now it is much bigger than before.
Here are the new features and bug fixes added in this version:
- Fixed cloud base gets negative on real weather when scenery is very deep.
- Fixed heading reading in fps mode when boat selected.
- Added Kelvin wakes to all ships and sizes.
- Kelvin wave scale can be adjusted by wave_scale in vehicle config.
- Active sea size made larger and more detailed.
- Reduced CPU load when rendering displacement wakes.
- Fixed bug with saving vehicle speeds.
- Added wave_scale to vehicle config to adjust displacement waves.
- Fixed element selection bug in elements design screen.
- Camera can move around vehicle in track mode.
- Fixed bug in track mode toggle.
- Added stern anchor.
- Added two bow anchors.
